Basciami, vita mia, sì dolcemente
ch’io giung’ al fin del viver che m’avanza.
Sian dritt’i bei pensier, le vogli’ntente
a basci armati di fed’ et constanza,
per cio che l’alma tal dolcezza sente
ch’unqua non mai sentir have speranza
però il corpo lasciar vol quand’ è tocca
dal dolce bascio tuo dolce mia bocca.

German translation

Küsse mich, mein Leben, so zärtlich,
dass ich mein Ende verspüre, das mir naht.
Mögen gerichtet sein die guten Gedanken, die Wünsche achtsam
auf Küsse, gewappnet mit Treue und Standhaftigkeit,
damit die Seele solche Süße spüre,
die sie nie jemals zu verspüren Hoffnung hatte,
deshalb möchte sie den Körper verlassen, wenn berührt wird
von deinem süßen Kuss mein süßer Mund.

English translation

Kiss me, my life, so tenderly,
that I feel the end of my life approaching.
The fine thoughts shall be directed, the will intent
on kisses armed with truth and constancy,
that the soul might feel such sweetness,
which she never had hope to feel,
hence she wants to leave the body, when touched will be
by your sweet kiss my sweet mouth.
