d'être éloigné longtemps de ses amours,
car en passant les heures et les jours,
le pauvre amant trop de douleur endure.

English translation

There is in love a formidable pain
When being from one’s lover long estranged
For as the hours and days pass unchanged,
The poor lover must endure too much strain.
