Italian text Candido e vago fiore, Colto dalla più bella e rara mano Che mai vedesse nel suo regno Amore; Se ti vedrai lontano Dalla mia donna bella, Che vince in beltà la terza stella, Non dei languir dell’atto dolce umano, Ma temprar tua partita, Coll’aver dato aita Al più perfetto amante, Ch’adora in terra le sue luci sante.

English translation Fair white flower, Picked by the most beautiful and rare hand That Love ever saw in his realm, If I should ever see you far From my beautiful lady, Who surpasses the third star (Venus) in beauty, Do not bemoan this sweet human deed, But temper the twinge of your demise For you will have come to the aid Of the most consummate lover Who worships his lover’s sacred eyes here on earth.
