Italian text Gran dolor di mia vita Quella che mi vedea negli occh’il core Et nella fronte la fede scolpita Fatt’ha da noi partita Sì che biastemm’et ne disprezz’amore Et dico invid’amor e dispietato Ad un felice stato Tu non perdesti mai l’antich’usanza Privar l’huom nel più bel della speranza.

English translation Great suffering of my life, She who saw in my eyes my heart And faithfulness sculpted on my brow Has left us.
