Guter Rath
An einem Sommermorgen
da nimm den Wanderstab,
Es fallen deine Sorgen
von dir wie Nebel ab.

Des Himmels heit’re Bläue
lacht dir ins Herz hinein,
und schliesst, wie Gottes Treue
mit seinem Dach dich ein.

Rings Blüthen nur und Triebe
Und Halme segensschwer,
Dir ist als zög' die Liebe
Des Weges nebenher.

So heimisch alles klinget,
Als wie im Vaterhaus,
Und über die Lerchen schwinget
Die Seele sich hinaus.

Good advice
On a summer morning
Take up the walking stick,
All your cares fall away
From you like mist.

The cheerful blue of the sky
Fills your heart with its laughter,
And embraces you, like God's faithfulness,
With its roof.

Around are only flowers and shoots
And stalks laden with blessings,
It seems as though love walks
Alongside the path.

So familiar everything sounds,
As though in your father's house,
And beyond, above the larks,
Soars the soul.
