laetamini et exultate
praeco ante judicem consurgit
choros ducite
vox ante verbum conclamat,
buccinate,
Iohannes nativitatem Christi praevenit.

Heute leuchtet ein Licht vor der Sonne,
freut euch!
Die Morgenröte erstrahlt vor dem Tag,
jubelt und jauchzt!
Der Künder tritt auf vor dem Richter,
führt Reigen auf!
Die Stimme erschallt vor dem Wort,
stoßt ins Horn!
Johannes geht der Geburt Christi voran,
