Italian text Io non sapeva già che foss’ amore, Ma come viddi voi, ben l’imparai. Ben m’arse et m’ard’ et arderami il core Foco più degno, ohimè, che fosse mai Ma in breve ben lunghissimo dolore In poco dolce, molto fel trovai. Et quando poi sperai più lieta sorte, Trov’ il mal vivo et le speranze morte.

German translation Ich wusste noch nicht, was Liebe sei, aber als ich Euch sah, habe ich das gelernt. Sehr verbrannte, verbrennt und wird verbrennen mir das Herz ein Feuer, würdiger, ach, als zuvor. Aber kurzum, äußerst langes Leid fand ich in wenig Süße und sehr viel Bitterkeit. Und als ich dann auf ein freundlicheres Geschick hoffte, fand ich das Übel lebend und die Hoffnung tot.
