Edition notes: Harmonized by Bernard Hellebusch in Cantata Catholica published in 1876. 1. O quam moestus cordis aestus
Piam matrem conficit,
Suam natum dum libratum
Super ligno conspicit.

2. Obstupescit, inardescit,
ingemiscit aestuat,
Sic colore, sic amore,
Sice utroque fluctuat.

3. Ah, decora quondam ora
Quam sunt modo pullida,
Et perfossa ante ossa
Quam sunt modo maderant.

4. Auot cruenta sunt formenta,
Que te, fili lacerant:
Violenta tot lamenta,
Genetricem maderant.
