Italian text Se cantano gl’augelli, Di sopra gl’arboscelli, Se scherzan gl’animali, Ne i campi punti d’amorosi strali, Se guizzando festeggiano nel’onde, I pesci fra la grott’ime e profonde, Perchè non faccio anch’io, Palese l’amor mio, Cantiam dunque pastori, Viva la bella Dori.

English translation If the birds sing in the treetops; if the beasts, stung by Cupid’s dart, sport and play in the fields; if frisking fish are festive in the waves mid grottoes remote and deep; why do not I also manifest my love? Therefore, shepherds, let us sing: “Long live fair Dori!”.

Dutch translation Wanneer de vogels zingen in de toppen van de bomen, wanneer de dieren in de weiden hun bronstig spel vertonen, wanneer vissen spartelen in de golven tussen stille diepe grotten; waarom doe ik dan niet mee, en toon ik mijn liefde? Kom, herders, laat ons zingen: "Lang leve de schone Dori!"
