Latin text Stans a longe publicanus nolebat oculos ad coelum levare, sed percutiebat pectus suum, dicens: Deus propitius esto mihi peccatori. Alleluia.

German translation Der Zöllner stand ferne, wollte die Augen nicht aufheben zum Himmel, sondern schlug an seine Brust und sprach: Gott, sei mir Sünder gnädig! Halleluja.

English translation Standing afar off, the publican would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. Alleluia.
