Into the universe lonely he came,
Lonely, unfathomed, insistent, minute;
Labored thru aeons, unsought without name,
Torn in the triumph of god over brute;
Groped thru the centuries, worked out the plan,
Emerging at last in the conqueror, man.
Then up the ways of the untrodden spheres,
Daring and striving thru failure and pain,
Flinging his challenge up the height of years,
Strong and relentless his will to attain;
Rough and unsearched was the path that he trod,
Man in his quest, was alone with his God.
Flung from the grip of a conquerless will,
Stars and their satellites pass and are gone;
Dauntless, heroic, impregnable still,
The tireless human strives upward and on,
