English text
Gaily, gaily sails our barque!
Swiftly through swelling waves we glide!
And dancing sea-drops lightly mar
Our course along the boundless tide!
We love thee, Ocean, for we find
We safely o’er thy waters roam;
Since there no trace is left behind:
Thou art the Corsair’s only home.
Lazy sons of peace,
Prattle of strength and freedom still!
You talk full loudly, yet ne’er cease
To toil, to toil at some proud tyrant’s will;
You never knew the joy we feel
When Freedom lends our sails, our sails her breath,
Or bounding on through fire and steel
We rush to victory or death.
