Description: Originally a poem by Johan Ludvig Runeberg, composed then by Fredrik Pacius in 1847. First performed 1848. Translated into Finnish by poet group led by Julius Krohn, then edited by Paavo Cajander into the form known nowadays. Rose into a status of de facto national song in Finland after competing with some other nationalistic contemporary songs of the time. Adapted also as the national song of Estonia in 1920, with title Mu isamaa, mu õnn ja rõõm with lyrics by Johann Voldemar Jannsen.
