English text
When Spring is calling forth the flowers
From out their wint’ry cold retreat,
And birds are warbling in the bowers,
While cowslips spring beneath thy feet;
Then think, oh! fondly think of me,
So far from home, and friends, and thee.
In Summer when ye seek the shade,
And morning beauties meet thine eye,
When by the stream or upland glade,
Ye list to hear the zephyr sigh;
Then think, oh! fondly think of me,
And I will ever think of thee.
When Spring and Summer both are o’er,
And Autumn’s frown is on the leaves,
When clouds grow thick and thunders roar,
And nature for her losses leave—
Then think, oh! fondly think of me,
For I shall e’er remember thee.
