Manuscript 1563 in Cappella Sistina MS 38, no. 37
Description: Published by Ballard & Le Roy, Paris, 1553. Contains a puzzle canon: 'Me oportet minui. Illum autem crescere.' There was no congruence mark in the source to indicate where the following voice should enter, nor was its pitch indicated (evidently required to be at the unison, however). In the canonic part, the note values had to be halved in the dux but doubled in the comes - and the same applied to the rests before these parts entered.

Fratres mei elongaverunt se a me
et noti mei quasi alieni recesserunt a me.
Dereliquerunt me proximi mei
et qui me noverunt quasi alieni recesserunt a me.
