Editor: Andrew Fysh (submitted 2019-06-27).   Score information: A4, 18 pages   Copyright: CC BY SA
Edition notes: At original notated pitch (for SSATBB or SSTTBB). Original note values retained. Transcribed and edited from the original manuscript. Revised edition uploaded 26 March 2022.
This edition resolves a significant transcription error, compounded by a poorly conceived correction, in the ‘Opera Omnia’ (Corpus Mensurabilis Musicae 55, vol. 6, no.13) — resulting in parallel octaves between Superius Primus and Bassus at mm.8–9 — that has been perpetuated in at least two commercial recordings of this work.

Original text and translations

English.png English translation

Make a cheerful noise unto God my helper,
 and sing a psalm unto Him,
For He has exalted my strength and my old age with abundant mercy;
 even into [my] old age and decline [Thou] hast not abandoned me.

If I should sleep, I shall again be raised,
 and in my flesh I shall see God;
and this is my hope:
 that my portion may be in the land of the living.
