General Information

Title: Loquebantur variis linguis (Secunda pars)
Composer: Sigismondo d'India

Number of voices: 5vv   Voicing: SATTB
Genre: SacredMotet

Language: Latin

Instruments: A cappella

First published: 1610 in Liber secundus sacrorum concentuum, no. 12
2nd published: 1612 in Promptuarium musicum, Pars Altera, no. 42b
Description: In both !610 and 1612 prints this is the secundaa pars of a three section motet (Pacem reliquo-Loquebantur variis linguis-Cariras Dei diffusa est). Although the three parts have a common "Alleluia" and are all for use during Pentecost, they are treated by other composers as discrete items. They have therefore been evidenced here separately since the undismembered motet is somewhat of a behemoth.
