1  Now May is here, and in the dell
The primrose star, the cowslip bell,
The violet hides amid the grove,
The honeysuckle climbs above,
The mavis sings, the sky is clear,
All fair I see, all glad I hear,
Of all that's sweet in earth and air,
I say 'tis like my lady fair,
Aye! like my lady fair!

2  Now May is here, but in the May
The sunshine flies sometimes away;
I've seen it leave a face in tears,
With little woes and wayward fears;
It may be so, I'll not complain,
But say the sun will shine again
And all be sweet in earth and air,
And so will be my lady fair.
Aye! so my lady fair.
The mavis sings, the sky is clear,
All fair I see, all glad I hear;
Of all that's fair in earth and air,
I say 'tis like my lady fair,
Aye! like my lady fair!
